Most all of us have visited MapQuest or Yahoo maps to find maps and directions for an upcoming trip. The Perry-Castaneda Library Map Collection includes those and so much more! Not only does it list the commonly known mapping sites, it also lists other mapping sites and lists links to many sites with specialized maps, such as maps of the Toronto subway, bike trails in the Grand Junction, Colorado area, and other points of interest around the world.

Here’s a great resource for social studies units dealing with communities and individuals interested in genealogy and history. The Penny Postcards website allows users to search for communities by state and then county to find images of penny postcards from the past … take a trip down memory lane and see what your community looked like at another point in time.
